Operating from the Washoe County Regional Shooting Facility, Palomino Valley Gun Club (PVGC) offers structured, long-range competition in Northern Nevada’s high desert terrain.
The range is near Pyramid Lake, with targets extending into the Virginia Range. It offers real-world elevation shifts and unpredictable winds—ideal for experienced distance shooters.
Match disciplines include F-Class Prone, High Power Rifle, Gas Gun, and Bolt PRS-style events, rimfire and centerfire silhouette, and military rifle matches. Steel and silhouette targets are common, with lanes ranging from 330 yards out to 1,000 yards, depending on the event. Firing is typically from prone or bench, with occasional tactical stages requiring positional work.
The facility itself is county-operated, and while club membership is optional, it grants early access to event information and club operations. Events are open to the public, with no prerequisites beyond safe firearm handling. The site includes instructor classrooms, storage facilities, and a helipad for emergencies—a nod to the venue’s remoteness.
