A two-day desert precision rifle match on private land near Hurricane, Utah, featuring red rock terrain, natural props, 18 stages, and a demanding course focused on movement, time pressure, and target acquisition.

.avif)
The 2026 Desert Chaos is a first-year precision rifle match hosted near Hurricane, set on private land roughly 25 minutes outside town. Designed by Avenal Tactical, this event emphasizes natural-terrain shooting across southern Utah’s red-rock landscape rather than heavy man-made barricades.
Competitors will shoot 18 stages over two days, with an estimated 200 rounds, excluding zero and dope confirmation. The course stresses efficient movement, unusual shooting positions, and rapid target acquisition against visually complex terrain. Zero boards will be available during registration and throughout the match.

Shooter Insight:
The visual complexity of red rock terrain will punish sloppy target ID, strong glass, disciplined ranging, and efficient stage planning matter more than raw speed.
