Long Range Shooting Events & Competitions

overview

The National Long Range Matches are part of the CMP National Matches held August 3–9, 2026, at Camp Perry National Guard Training Site, organized by the Civilian Marksmanship Program. This series focuses on traditional high-power long-range rifle competition, fired on outdoor electronic targets at 600 and 1,000 yards, eliminating pit duty and providing real-time scoring.

Events include multiple 1,000-yard slow-prone individual Memorial matches, four-man and two-person team matches, and the Camp Perry Palma Match with firing at 800, 900, and 1,000 yards. The match draws experienced Service Rifle, Match Rifle, Palma, and F-Class shooters looking for disciplined, fundamentals-driven long-range competition rather than dynamic field stages.

What to Expect:

  • Electronic targets at 600 and 1,000 yards
  • Individual Memorial matches and team formats.
  • Palma course: 800/900/1,000 yards
  • Permitted classes: Match Rifle, Service Rifle, Palma, F-Open, F-T/R, AR Tactical
  • Registration opens March 1 via CMP.
  • Weather and Lake Erie wind conditions can be a significant factor.

Shooter Insight:

Camp Perry rewards shooters who can read shifting lake winds and hold solid prone fundamentals; pure marksmanship matters more here than speed or movement.
