overview

The Blue Mountain Big Game Hunter runs April 17–19, 2026, outside La Grande, delivering a true backcountry NRL Hunter experience. This event is designed for hunters who want realism: terrain-driven stages, natural shooting positions, and constant movement across Eastern Oregon’s open landscape.

Friday focuses on RO activities, zero, velocity, vendors, and optional side stages. Saturday and Sunday are the main hunt days; 20 total stages (12 on Day 1, 8 on Day 2), with significant walking between positions. Expect spring conditions ranging from cold mornings to rain or snow, making layering and solid footwear mandatory.

Key Details:

  • Field-style NRL Hunter format simulating real hunting scenarios
  • Natural terrain with varied distances and shooting positions
  • High physical demand; extended hiking between stages
  • The weather can swing between 30°F and 60°F, with wind, rain, or snow.
  • Lunch and snacks provided; banquet meal after awards
  • No refunds; slot transfers allowed with coordination

Shooter Insight:

This match rewards fitness and adaptability more than gear; poor conditioning will cost more points than marginal ballistic errors.
