King of the Mountain Shooting Competition

Hosted by the Mountain Shooting Center (MSC) in partnership with the Army Sniper Association and supporting the Marine Corps Scout Sniper Heritage Foundation, the 2025 King of the Mountain Shooting Competition takes place July 18–20 in the rugged high country near Antimony, Utah.

This 3-day sniper-style match challenges serious marksmen with steep-angle shots, high-altitude engagements (8,000'–10,000' ASL), and dynamic movement across mountain ridgelines. It's designed to replicate the real-world complexity faced by military and backcountry shooters alike, wind layers, optical illusions, and leg-burning terrain.

Key Features:

• Venue: Mountain Shooting Center (MSC), 200 sq. miles of mountainous terrain at 9,300' ASL
• Shooting Conditions: True long-range (1 mile+), steep angles, optical distortion, multi-layer winds
• Targets: Steel silhouettes (1m) and steel dog targets (0.39m)

Stage Progression:

• Day 1: Known-distance range (KDR) at 9,400' ASL
• Day 2–3: Mid-canyon and ridge lines — shots down, across, and beyond 1 mile

• Improvised Shooting Positions: All engagements are run from natural or field-expedient positions
• Mobility Required: Shooters relocate on foot between firing points; this is not a flat-range match
• Cost: $350 per shooter; registration closes July 1, 2025
• Start Time: 0445 on Day 1; full schedule released upon registration

This is not a PRS or NRL event — it's a stand-alone high-altitude sniper match for competitors who want more than square-range marksmanship.
