Major Land Sniper Cup
Long Range Shooting Events & Competitions

Summary

The Major Land Sniper Cup returns with a new-for-2025 mountain course designed in consultation with USMC and Army sniper instructors. This 3-day event blends serious competition, elite-level training, and tactical community — all in tribute to the legendary Major Jim Land, the father of modern Marine sniping.

Who it's for:

Military and LE sniper-qualified shooters, competitive long-range teams, and serious civilian marksmen looking to test themselves in real-world-inspired environments.

Event Highlights:

  • 2-Man Team Format with Individual Scoring — Stages Demand Communication, Coordination, and Sniper Fieldcraft.
  • Blue Ridge Terrain: Long-angle shots, mountain-to-mountain engagements, and natural wind complexity out to 1 mile+.
  • Blind Stages: No pre-stage walkthroughs — you'll assess, range, and engage under real pressure.
  • Dynamic Firing Positions: Prone, rooftops, vehicle-based, tank traps, and improvised urban concealment.
  • Close-Quarter Elements: Rapid secondary weapon transitions to the pistol at danger-close ranges.
  • Clinics & Train-Ups: Get hands-on with Emil Praslick (AMU), Frank Galli (Sniper's Hide), Katie Godfrey (Kestrel), Chris Roberts (CR2), and more.
  • Charity Side Matches: Support the Army Sniper Association with the Liberty Bell shoot — win prizes and give back to the sniper community.
  • Low-Round Count, High-Impact COF: Favoring fast 6.5mm or .30 cal precision rigs with shots from 25 yards to beyond 2,000.
  • Old Warrior Friendly: Shuttle support and short-stage transitions make this test accessible to veterans of every age.

Schedule:

  • Friday: Check-in, Train-up, Classes, Clinics, Zeros
  • Saturday: Competition (0700–1700) + Lunch & Dinner
  • Sunday: Competition (0700–1600) + Awards (1600–1700)
