overview

The Snake River Outdoorsman, presented by Nightforce, runs May 22–24, 2026, in the steep canyon country near the Potlatch and Clearwater Rivers in north-central Idaho. This NRL Hunter event is built for hunters who want realistic, pressure-tested shooting in actual western terrain.

The course places the firing line primarily in the canyon bottom, forcing shooters to engage at high angles and across the canyon on a roughly 1.7-mile course with ~350 feet of elevation gain. All targets are animal-based and sized for practical hunting applications.

Key Details:

  • Field-style NRL Hunter format with natural shooting positions
  • Engagement distances range from 100 to 1,000 yards.
  • Steep canyon terrain with vertical and lateral wind challenges
  • Rifle weigh-in and chrono during Saturday sight-in and demos
  • Skills division limited to 15 shooters (first-come)
  • No refunds; transfers allowed; dry camping available

Shooter Insight:

This match favors efficient movers with strong angle math, expect fewer “comfortable” prone solutions and more problem-solving under fatigue.
