Grant County Public Shooting Range

Located off Highway 180 in Santa Clara, Grant County Public Shooting Range provides local marksmen with rare access to 1,000-yard rifle shooting in southern New Mexico. Operated under the county parks system and overseen by a dedicated full-time range officer, this outdoor facility remains one of the few public-access long-range venues in the region.

• Target Distances: Steel and paper targets are set from close range to 1,000 yards, offering ample room for load development, dope testing, or distance drills.
• Range Conditions: While the infrastructure is modest and limited by the county budget, the community keeps the facility clean and functional. Expect basic benches, defined firing lines, and safety-first enforcement at all times.
• Access & Fees: The range operates Friday through Sunday, 9:00 AM to 4:30 PM only. Admission is $5 per day, or $75 for an annual pass.
• Environment: Expect open terrain with varying winds. Shooters are encouraged to bring shade, water, and their spotting equipment.
