Set across the exposed plains of West Texas, Lubbock Shooting Complex delivers a straightforward but highly functional long-range environment centered around its dedicated 600-yard prone rifle bay. The layout is flat, open, and fully exposed to shifting crosswinds and mirage, making environmental calls a major part of the shooting experience rather than simply stretching distance. Shooters work steel and paper targets at stepped distances out to 600 yards from a prone-only firing line, reinforcing fundamentals like body position, recoil management, and consistent data collection.

The facility leans more toward practical marksmanship and long-range fundamentals than tactical-style barricade shooting, with the long-range area separated from the larger public complex, which contains rifle lanes, pistol positions, and shotgun areas. The ability to rent rifles such as the Barrett M82A1 and Sako TRG42 also gives newer long-range shooters access to heavier calibers rarely available at public facilities.
