Yellowstone Rifle Club

The Yellowstone Rifle Club (YRC) in Billings, Montana, is a well-rounded shooting facility with both indoor precision ranges and dedicated long-range steel courses.

Founded in 1950, YRC supports a wide range of shooting disciplines across multiple bays, including airgun, smallbore, silhouette, and high-power rifle formats.

The Long-Range Course (Range 2B) features:

• 11 AR-400 steel targets:
  • Two @ 400 yards
  • Two @ 500 yards
  • One @ 550 yards
  • Four @ 600 yards
  • Two @ 700 yards
• Four bench rest positions plus a dedicated prone firing lane
• Open to all standard centerfire calibers (≤ 8mm) — .50 BMG, AP, incendiary, and tracer rounds prohibited
• Color-coded targets (fluorescent orange with white centers) for visibility
• Range sharing protocols in effect with adjacent silhouette and black powder bays

YRC also maintains a dedicated High Power Rifle range with firing points at 200, 300, and 600 yards for NRA F-Class-style matches. Practices run from May through September and are open to non-members for various fees.

Additional ranges include:

• Indoor 12-point, 50-foot lanes for airguns, bullseye pistols, and small-bore
• Three silhouette ranges: centerfire, smallbore, and rimfire pistol
• Structured youth programs and organized silhouette matches
