description

Evan Cox is a seasoned firearms instructor and co-instructor at Rocky Mountain Precision Training. Evan brings a no-nonsense, field-tested approach to precision and tactical shooting instruction.

Evan served for 15 years as a Deputy Sheriff in Texas, including four years on the SWAT team and assignments as a senior criminal investigator and task force officer. His sniper foundation began with a dedicated sniper school during his tenure with SWAT, complementing his broader firearms training and real-world application in high-stakes roles.

Before his law enforcement career, Evan served in both the U.S. Army as a Military Police Officer and the U.S. Air Force in Security Forces, including duties in Combat Arms Training and Maintenance (CATM). He holds firearms instructor credentials from both the Air Force and his sheriff’s office. He has logged thousands of hours in additional firearms and tactical training.

Also a trained gunsmith, Evan brings a technical edge to his instruction, helping students understand not only how to shoot but how their weapon systems function under pressure and in the field.

While he jokes about having “zero sniper competitions” compared to his training partner Jeff VanCleave, Evan’s experience runs deep in operational environments where performance matters most.

Courses reflect Evan’s balance of tactical precision, practical instruction, and mechanical expertise—trusted by law enforcement, military, and civilian shooters alike.
