Altoona Rifle and Pistol Club

Founded in 1946, the Altoona Rifle and Pistol Club (ARPC) is a private shooting facility located in the Sinking Valley region of central Pennsylvania. The club spans a mix of wooded terrain and open firing lines, with ranges tailored for both static and dynamic shooting disciplines.

‍

Facilities include:

• A 300-yard Big Bore range for centerfire rifle work
• A 100-yard covered rifle range with concrete benches suitable for bench rest or prone
• Two pistol bays (Iron Valley and Bottenfield)
• A steel woods walk course used for .22LR, black powder, and handgun steel target engagements

‍

While specific props and PRS/NRL-style barricades aren’t listed, the club supports dynamic movement on the steel walk and hosts 60+ public events per year, including reenactments and shooting matches. Prone shooting appears to be supported on the covered rifle line. However, range rules and caliber limitations are not published online.

‍

Year-round access is reserved for members, with limited public access during scheduled events. For shooters seeking an East Coast club with mid-range rifle capability, steel target courses, and varied terrain, ARPC provides a solid, traditional shooting environment with dynamic touches.
