JP Enterprises’ Blue Steel Ranch in New Mexico is a private precision rifle facility built around canyon terrain, with 400+ steel targets and practical long-range shooting beyond 1,000 yards.

Located in the canyon country south of Logan, New Mexico, JP Enterprises’ Blue Steel Ranch is a purpose-built long-range training facility designed for serious precision rifle work rather than casual public shooting. The ranch combines seven square ranges with extensive natural terrain, creating a field environment where shooters work across ridgelines, canyon walls, valleys, and uneven desert terrain.
The facility is known for its practical long-range layout, featuring 30 separate canyon-rim firing positions and over 400 steel targets spread throughout the property. Target engagements commonly run from short confirmation distances out to 1,000+ yards, with advanced courses documenting hits and ballistic truing beyond that distance. Shooters deal with constantly shifting canyon winds, elevation changes, mirage, and terrain-induced airflow that force real-time corrections rather than static bench shooting. Training infrastructure supports both foundational and advanced precision rifle work.
Key Features:
Blue Steel Ranch regularly hosts precision rifle instruction through JP Enterprises and Colorado Precision Rifle, with courses focused on wind reading, reticle use, positional shooting, and practical long-range problem-solving.
This facility is best suited for serious precision rifle shooters, PRS-style competitors, and long-range enthusiasts seeking realistic field conditions rather than flat, square-range shooting.
