Golden Spike Shooting Range

Set in the wide-open high desert near the Golden Spike National Historic Site, Goldenspike Buffalo Range is a private, competition-focused range designed for long-range rifle shooters prioritizing precision and challenge over convenience.

The facility supports steel engagements to 1,123 yards, with targets shaped like prairie dogs, coyotes, elk, and IPSC silhouettes scattered across natural terrain.

• Firing positions include prone, barricade, and natural rock props, ideal for PRS and NRL-style matches.
• The disciplines hosted were the PRS AG Cup, Black Powder Cartridge Rifle (BPCR), ViMBAR/ViMSAR vintage matches, and long-range benchrest.
• The site uses wind-heavy terrain and elevation exposure to test accurate marksmanship, with no artificial structures to soften the experience.

Access is strictly match-based. No public walk-ins are allowed; all shooting must be tied to a scheduled competition. Amenities include RV hookups, on-site lodging for shooters, and well-organized event logistics. While formal training isn’t offered, experienced match directors provide coaching during events.
