Set on 360 acres in Myakka City, the Manatee Gun & Archery Club (MGAC) is one of Florida's most accessible long-range destinations, offering a public-friendly layout with impressive target distances and solid shooter infrastructure. Just an hour from Tampa or St. Petersburg, this NRA-affiliated facility has been operational since 1971 and is well-regarded among southeastern precision shooters.
The Main Firing Line features 82 covered benches across paper and steel target lanes from 25 to 1,000 yards. Steel gongs are available at 300 and 1,000 yards. A separate 600-yard range includes both paper and steel targets, but requires a formal qualification (5 shots inside 2 MOA at 300 yards per rifle/sight setup). Rifle racks, chamber flags, and cold-line protocols support a structured firing environment.
Additional features include a Pistol Challenge Course, a .22 Rimfire steel gallery, and a 3-D archery trail. Although there's no on-site training program, ammunition is available for standard calibers such as .223, .308, and 6.5 Creedmoor.
Open Thursday through Sunday, MGAC remains publicly accessible even during events ideal for long-range enthusiasts seeking consistent access, valuable feedback, and a flat, well-maintained shooting environment.
