Located on 239 acres of reclaimed mine land in McDonald, Pennsylvania, the McDonald Sportsmen's Association (MSA) offers a private, conservation-focused shooting experience anchored by a 600-yard rifle range with covered benches. Founded in 1955, the club blends wildlife habitat restoration with year-round shooting disciplines.
MSA supports a wide range of shooting formats:
- Rifle: 600-yard steel/paper target range, NRA Black Powder, Cowboy Action, Silhouette, M1 Garand matches
- Pistol: USPSA-style competitions, indoor and air pistol
- Shotgun: Trap and Skeet fields
- Archery: Dedicated walking course with reactive .22 targets
Prone shooting is permitted, and while not a PRS-focused facility, MSA's structured firing lines and match culture cater well to traditional long-range rifle work. The club also offers NRA-certified training programs, hunter education, and youth shooting events.
Access to the range is restricted to members, with the public invited during designated events. New membership requires NRA affiliation, sponsorship, and a probationary year.
Set against forested ridges and open meadows, MSA is best suited for hunters, traditional rifle competitors, and shooters seeking disciplined distance training in a conservation-minded environment.
