Founded in 1923 on 90 acres in Milan, Illinois, the Milan Rifle Club is an NRA-affiliated facility that supports a wide range of rifle, pistol, silhouette, and airgun disciplines. Membership requires an NRA affiliation, but non-members are welcome to attend formal competitions throughout the year.
Range Capabilities:
- High Power Rifle Range to 600 yards, with paper targets and firing from standing, sitting, and prone.
- Benchrest shooting at 25, 50, 100, and 180 yards.
- Indoor pistol range (25 yards, 50 ft) and outdoor bays (25 and 50 yards) with five walled shooting lanes.
- Airgun & Smallbore Ranges support precision shooting at 25, 50, and 100 meters.
- Reactive steel silhouettes are used in air rifle and lever action matches.
Disciplines & Matches:
- NRA High Power, Benchrest, Cowboy Action (SASS), Lever Action, Smallbore, and Military Bolt Gun matches.
- Informal and formal competitions follow a published club calendar.
Training:
Free basic pistol and AR-15 safety classes are available to members and families, though not NRA-certified or valid for concealed carry.
Rules & Limitations:
- No 50 BMG, armor-piercing, tracer, or incendiary rounds.
- No shooting before 8 AM outdoors (except for .22 rimfire); no night fire.
- Ground targets, diagonal fire, and unapproved movement are restricted to preserve berm integrity.
It is ideal for Midwest competitors, benchrest enthusiasts, and anyone training for NRA-style or military-style rifle matches at medium to long range.
