Oak Ridge Sportsmens Association

Located on 850 wooded acres in East Tennessee, ORSA is a private shooting and sportsmen’s club offering one of the nation’s rare civilian-accessible 1,000-yard rifle ranges. Established in 1947 and chartered by the NRA, it supports over 3,000 members and hosts more than 70 sanctioned matches annually.

Rifle shooters can access multiple venues:

• A High-Power Range (200–1,000 yards) used exclusively for matches, clinics, or practice by qualified members.
• A 600-yard mid-range for NRA/CMP-prone matches.
• Benchrest and plinking ranges for precision or informal practice.
• Action pistol bays built for dynamic IDPA, USPSA, and 3-gun scenarios.
• Additional lanes for sporting clays, skeet and trap, archery, and an indoor range complete the facility.

The high-power range requires NRA/CMP classification or supervision by a certified member. Action pistol bays support holster draw and movement. Training clinics are regularly hosted, and a designated Training Officer oversees education efforts.

ORSA is strictly a member-only organization, although certain competitive events are open to the public. Operating hours are 9 AM to sunset (Mon-Sat) and noon to sunset (Sun), with extended evening access during summer and winter leagues.

Best suited for long-range competitors, action shooters, and high-power marksmen, ORSA combines competition-grade facilities with structured member oversight for serious skill development.
