Build practical long-range shooting skills through classroom instruction and field engagements on steel targets from 300 to 1,000 yards.

The Long Range Fundamentals course from Doak Development is a focused one-day training program designed to introduce shooters to the essential mechanics of precision rifle shooting while immediately applying those concepts at distance. The class blends classroom learning with practical range work to build a dependable foundation for long-range marksmanship.
The day begins with a classroom session covering the core variables that affect long-range accuracy. Instructors walk students through environmental effects, ballistic fundamentals, rifle setup, and the tools used to gather and apply shooting data. Each shooter receives guidance on configuring their rifle system correctly before heading to the range.
Once on the firing line, students confirm zero, establish groups, and chronograph ammunition at 100 yards before building and validating ballistic data. With instructor support, shooters true their DOPE and begin engaging steel targets at increasing distances while refining their position, building, and data management.
During the field portion of the course, students will:
By the end of the course, shooters leave with a properly configured rifle system, trued ballistic data, and a repeatable process for gathering DOPE across different rifles, ammunition types, and environments.
Ideal for shooters beginning their long-range journey or hunters looking to extend their ethical shooting distance with confidence.
