Jim Erwin is a former Army special operations sniper and longtime firearms instructor who teaches practical long-range precision shooting.

Jim Erwin is an Army special operations veteran with a background in sniper employment and close quarters work. He served with 2/75th Ranger Battalion as a sniper, graduated Army Sniper School as the Distinguished Honor Graduate, and later completed the Special Forces Target Interdiction Course. He was also selected for 1st SFOD-D, where he served as an assaulter and assistant breacher with a focus on CQB.
He brings more than 30 years of hands-on experience in precision shooting, tactical training, and custom rifle building. His instruction is built around practical application, with an emphasis on solving the actual shot problem in front of the shooter rather than chasing theory. That makes him relevant for students who want field-useful long-range fundamentals, positional work, and a clearer understanding of how rifle setup supports performance.
Based in Minden, Nevada, Erwin has trained civilian shooters as well as military and law enforcement personnel.
