Built on a reclaimed coal mine site near Palisade, Colorado, the Cameo Shooting and Education Complex (CSEC) spans 2,000 rugged acres. Colorado Parks and Wildlife manages it. This high-desert facility, situated at an elevation of 5,290 feet, features a purpose-built Long Range Precision (LRP) Range with 44 steel targets ranging from 100 to 2,003 yards, many of which are equipped with electronic flashers for real-time hit confirmation, even in daylight.
The LRP shelter includes eight 1,400-lb concrete benches. It accommodates prone shooting, with wind flags every 500 yards and canyon terrain that introduces natural wind challenges. Additional features include a target map, ballistics calibration station, and dedicated ELR target at 1,150 yards for fine-tuning BC in the transonic zone.
Competitive events, such as the LRP Master Challenge, Chandler Challenge, and monthly Jackpot Games, push shooters across all 2,000+ yards. The LRP is reservation-based, open four days a week to the public, and available for private events on off-days.
Outside the LRP, CSEC offers:
- 67-position main range (5–200 yards)
- Action shooting pavilions
- Sporting clays (14 & 9 stations)
- 3D archery courses
- Benchrest and silhouette rifle ranges
No membership is required for general use, and the range includes gear rentals, chronograph services, and an on-site pro shop. With its long-range steel, hit technology, and structured events, CSEC is an ideal destination for ELR-focused marksmen, PRS shooters, and civilian snipers-in-training seeking a world-class range experience.
