Minot Rifle & Pistol Club is located just west of Minot, North Dakota. It operates both indoor and outdoor shooting facilities. The indoor range features 12 lanes at 25 yards, along with an integrated classroom, making it best suited for pistol, rimfire, or concealed carry (CCW) instruction.
The outdoor range spans 120 acres, featuring multiple shooting bays for both pistol and rifle use. Its standout event is the Buffalo Shooting match, modeled after the Quigley shoot in Montana. This match involves steel targets at distances of 200, 300, 400, 500, 600, and 725 yards, engaged from offhand and cross-stick positions using traditional single-shot rifles like a trapdoor, falling block, and rolling block actions. Only lead bullets, open sights, or Malcolm-style scopes are allowed, preserving the historic feel.
Additional matches include IDPA, USPSA, Steel Challenge, and multi-gun formats, with steel and paper targets across various bays. A lever-action class includes shaped steel from 50 to 200 yards, promoting a broad mix of traditional and modern rifle disciplines.
This club is best suited for shooters interested in classic long-range disciplines, iron-sight precision, and the dynamic culture of pistol matches. It's less ideal for ELR or modern scoped precision training.
