Thunder Valley Precision in Kimbolton, Ohio, is a dedicated long-range and ELR shooting facility with steel targets from 100 yards to over 1 mile, built for training, competition, and extended-distance rifle shooting.

Thunder Valley Precision sits on more than 200 acres of rolling hills in southeastern Ohio and is widely recognized as one of the Midwest’s prominent venues for long-range and extreme long-range (ELR) rifle shooting. The facility centers on a large, covered firing pavilion stretching roughly 200 feet, with 20 concrete shooting benches, an additional covered firing line, and several satellite shooting positions around the property, allowing shooters to engage targets from multiple angles and elevations.
The main rifle range is configured for progressive distance shooting, allowing shooters to confirm data at mid-range and then stretch into ELR territory under real wind conditions typical of the region’s open terrain.
Range Layout & Capabilities
Beyond long-range rifle shooting, the property includes a steel arena for handgun, carbine, and shotgun use, along with a 3D archery course featuring Rinehart targets across wooded terrain.
Thunder Valley hosts benchrest competitions, PRS-style matches, ELR events, and structured training courses focused on ballistic data gathering, rifle setup, and extended-range shooting.
The range offers public open-range days, scheduled matches, training events, and appointment access, making it a strong destination for shooters looking to push beyond traditional long-range distances.
