LE Sniper Instructor Course

This 5-day, 50-hour course from Standing Offhand is designed to transform experienced law enforcement snipers into certified instructors capable of building and leading sniper training programs. It goes far beyond marksmanship—emphasizing instructional methods, cognitive learning techniques, and subject matter expertise required to mentor others in high-stakes operational environments.

Participants will explore topics often overlooked in basic sniper training: advanced ballistics, trigonometry, physics, weapon system manufacturing, and human physiology. Just as importantly, the course teaches you how to teach—focusing on developing communication techniques, building confidence in your students, and translating complex concepts into actionable skills under pressure.

Course completion qualifies attendees to:

• Create and manage sniper training plans
• Deliver advanced instruction for LE sniper teams
• Advise on gear selection, sniper policy, and deployment strategy
• Serve as a department-recognized Subject Matter Expert (SME)

Training includes:

• Night vision integration (if available)
• Tripod shooting and sling techniques
• Decision-making drills under operational conditions
• Classroom instruction and teach-back exercises

Equipment Requirements:

• Bolt/semi-auto rifle capable of 1 MOA or better (.308, 6.5CM, up to .300WM)
• Professional-grade optic, front/rear rifle supports, tripod
• Night vision device (optional but recommended)
• Laser rangefinder, ballistic app, data book, 200 rounds minimum
• Full sustainment gear, including hydration, protective clothing, and notetaking tools

Admin & Logistics:
Tuition is $1,500. AZPOST certification requires specific instructor credentials and prior experience as a sniper. Agencies can arrange invoicing; self-funded officers are required to pay a 50% deposit. One free slot is offered for hosting agencies.
