Standing Offhand is a veteran-owned sniper training company built on real-world law enforcement and combat experience. Founded by Jeff Chang, a 30-year police sniper, and Marine Scout/Sniper, and Tyler Ellsworth, a retired SWAT sniper TL with decades of instruction under his belt, this school operates with one mission: increase the survivability and value of every LE sniper on the street.

Rooted in Arizona, SOH offers mobile, principle-based instruction that rejects rigid doctrine in favor of relevant, context-driven tactics. Their teaching style blends humility, grit, and sharp operational insight—because they've done the job.

Their flagship courses include:

• LE Sniper Instructor Course (5 days) – Develops firearms instructors into high-level sniper educators.
• LE Sniper Basic Course (5 days) – Foundation-level tactics, mindset, and deployment strategy for new police snipers
• Vehicle Hide Course (2 days) – Teaches snipers to operate covertly from vehicles in dynamic urban missions.
• Clagett Sniper Team Leader (3 days) – Team management, sniper autonomy, and leadership under stress
• Solving the Wee Hours (2 days) – Night vision integration and low-light sniper ops
• Joshua Clark Advanced Long Range Clinic (5 days) – Long-range rifle craft co-taught with Tyler, built for serious marksmen

While civilian access is not the primary focus, SOH has hosted long-range hunting clinics and has consulted with precision rifle builders. So, advanced civilians may find value in inquiry.
