Government Training Institute

Government Training Institute, or GTI, was founded in 2003 to serve state and local law enforcement agencies with research-based training. It operates in South Carolina and focuses on law enforcement and military users across sniper, patrol rifle, SWAT, breaching, and related tactical disciplines. GTI describes its curriculum as a cooperative program built from ongoing research and staff operational experience in military and law enforcement settings.

For precision-rifle work, GTI runs 5-day Basic Sniper and Advanced Sniper courses, plus N.E.S.T. for non-conventional elevated sniper training and a 2-day Patrol Rifle course for front line officers and first responders. The sniper track covers fundamentals, weapon selection and maintenance, ballistics, target engagement, team movement, fieldcraft, observation, camouflage, ranging, wind evaluation, moving targets, barriers, low-light firing, angular shooting, and long-range shooting. A defining facility is GTI's 135-foot, 10-floor sniper tower, used for high-angle shooting and elevated urban sniper problems. Training also uses urban and rural environments, and GTI offers agency proposal-based scheduling for group delivery.
