The 2026 Steel Safari runs June 4–7, 2026 near Logan, returning to its traditional June dates. Widely regarded as the original hike-and-shoot match, Steel Safari emphasizes true field shooting over square-range performance.
This is a three-day competition with 24–27 total stages spread across three field courses. Shooters hike roughly 3 miles per day in desert terrain at ~4,000 ft elevation, carrying all required gear. Each stage allows only one shot per target, forcing precise ranging, wind calls, and positional efficiency. Time limits include target identification and engagement, with no movement time between stages counted.
