The Marksmanship Training Center (MTC) is a purpose-built firearms training facility located north of Lake City, Michigan. Designed for disciplined shooters, MTC provides a controlled, members-only environment with structured courses in precision rifle, carbine, and pistol disciplines. The center was founded in 2012 by military veterans with a mission to deliver advanced firearms education while supporting professional military and law enforcement groups, as well as serious civilians alike.
MTC’s range complex includes:
- A 1,000-yard unknown-distance range
- A known-distance range
- A 100-yard multi-use range
- A 25-yard pistol bay
- A 3D archery field course for cross-training and hunting prep
Steel and paper targets are used, with caliber-specific rules: steelhead/torso targets are limited to 30 cal or smaller. In contrast, square steel and paper targets allow larger calibers. Courses support prone, barricade, supported and unsupported, and low-light shooting.
Recreational use is limited to members only; no walk-ins or public day passes are allowed. Training programs include three levels of long-range rifle instruction (LR1, LR2, LR3), covering fundamentals through to advanced fieldcraft, angular shooting, and real-world application.
It is ideal for precision rifle shooters, hunters, and LE/military units seeking private access and structured training.
