Montrose Rod & Gun Club

Montrose Rod & Gun Club (MRGC), founded in 1953, offers a dual-range facility just east of Montrose, Colorado. The outdoor complex sits in open, high-desert terrain and provides structured intermediate and long-range rifle training opportunities.

• Steel targets are permanently placed at distances from 96 to 555 yards, with visible elevation change and varied terrain features. The layout supports prone and bench shooting with visual target indicators on berms and ridgelines.
• Dedicated rifle lanes and tactical bays support monthly precision rifle matches using unknown-distance steel — ideal for practical or PRS-style shooting.
• Three pistol bays, a shoot house, and a whole trap/skeet shotgun area add flexibility for multi-discipline shooters.
• Defensive rifle and pistol training is offered by instructors with real-world operational experience, though not sniper-specific.

The indoor facility is limited to rimfire and low-velocity handgun calibers. Membership is currently capped, but PRS-style matches remain open to non-members.
