The Development Class from Snowy Mountain Rifles is a 3-day immersive course designed for intermediate and advanced precision shooters ready to elevate their field performance. This program builds on the Fundamentals Class, applying long-range shooting skills in realistic hunting settings, using premium gear and custom rifles in Montana's backcountry.
Students will refine advanced prone and tripod positions, tackle dynamic speed drills, and sharpen their understanding of external ballistics, environmental factors, and rapid data collection. You'll train with Snowy Mountain's Alpine Hunter rifles in 6.5 Creedmoor, using Kestrels, tripods, and custom ammo for consistency and accuracy.
Key skills covered:
- Advanced rifle setup, maintenance, and troubleshooting
- External ballistics, wind reading, and holdovers
- High-pressure field shooting scenarios
- Efficient gear use, Kestrel mastery, and tripod deployment
- Speed drills and unconscious competence development
The course takes place across natural terrain designed to mimic real-life shooting challenges—including angled shots, shifting weather, and field-based movement. Participants must be physically able to walk on moderate, uneven ground.
All rifles and gear are provided; however, Snowy Mountain rifles are required unless you bring your own SMR custom build. Limited class sizes are available, and a 10% discount is offered with rifle purchase.
