This 6-hour Mid-Range Precision Rifle/Hunting course at Frontline Defense Training Center in Warrenton, NC, is designed to sharpen your accuracy and decision-making from 25 to 500 yards. This course reinforces the fundamentals of marksmanship and field application.
What you'll learn:
- Confirming a 100-yard zero
- Basic ballistics and holdovers
- Range estimation for known and unknown distance targets
- Shooting positions: prone, kneeling, sitting, offhand, and barricade
- Equipment setup and optic selection
- Ethical shooting scenarios for real-world hunting applications
How it's delivered:
Hands-on instruction with live-fire drills and positional shooting. Accuracy and consistency are evaluated throughout.
Where and what you'll shoot:
Engage steel targets in natural terrain out to 500 yards. Instruction begins as close as 25 yards and moves progressively outward.
Gear & prep:
- Any caliber rifle (no XM193, XM855, AP, tracer, or incendiary)
- 1x–4x or 3x–9x magnified optics preferred; open sights allowed
- 100 rounds of ammo
- Sling, bipod (optional), optics (optional but recommended)
- Hat, hearing/eye protection, notebook, long pants, and weather-ready clothing
Special note:
Rifles must be zeroed at 100 yards. If not, arrive by 7:30 AM for zeroing before instruction.
