Precision Rifle Groundwork is a foundational long-range shooting course designed to take new or developing shooters from uncertainty to confidence behind the rifle. Delivered over 2.5 days at Ben Franklin Range in Templeton, PA, the course blends structured classroom instruction with extensive live-fire application, ensuring students understand not just how to shoot, but why each input matters.

Training begins with rifle and optic setup, including proper mounting, zeroing, and understanding mil vs MOA systems. Students then move into core marksmanship fundamentals, building stable prone positions and refining trigger control, breathing, and recoil management. From there, the course progresses into applied ballistics, where shooters learn to generate and validate data using a Kestrel 5700 Elite (provided during training), chronograph their rifle, and begin truing their ballistic profiles.

On the range, students push beyond typical distances, engaging targets while learning wind reading, holdovers, and spotting techniques. Drills are designed to reinforce consistency and decision-making under realistic conditions, helping shooters develop repeatable processes rather than guesswork.

What you’ll cover:

  • Rifle setup, scope mounting, and zeroing
  • Ballistics (internal and external)
  • Kestrel setup and data management
  • Wind reading and environmental inputs
  • Positional shooting (prone focus)
  • Spotting and shot correction
  • Distance shooting and rifle truing

With approximately 300 rounds fired and a strong emphasis on fundamentals, this course sets the baseline for all future long-range development.

Ideal for shooters stepping into precision rifle shooting or looking to lock in reliable fundamentals before advancing further.
