Retired Army Special Forces sergeant major with 25 years of service who teaches advanced firearms, sniper, medical, and field skills.

Karl Erickson is a retired Army Special Forces sergeant major with more than 25 years of military experience, including 18 years in Special Forces. His background includes training, mission execution, and technical oversight at the detachment, company, and combined joint task force levels. His military schooling includes Ranger School, Military Free Fall Jumpmaster, Special Forces Medic, SFARTEATC, and Special Forces Sniper.
After retirement, Erickson continued instructing through Ex Umbris International as Director of Special Projects, training military units, law enforcement, and emergency first responders. For shooters, that matters because his experience spans both precision rifle and the broader field skills that support real use of a gun, including medical response, situational awareness, and modern survival. He also teaches advanced firearms courses for private sector clients, bringing a practical approach shaped by long experience in training and operational oversight.
