Ben Avery Shooting Facility in Phoenix, AZ, offers 1,000-yard public rifle lanes, steel target matches, and PRS/F-Class events - ideal for serious civilian marksmen and competitive shooters.

Spanning 1,650 acres on the north edge of Phoenix, Ben Avery Shooting Facility is one of the largest and most professionally managed public ranges in the U.S. Operated by the Arizona Game and Fish Department, it features a 1,000-yard High Power Range. It supports disciplines like PRS, F-Class, NRL22, and silhouette shooting.
The range layout includes:
Public access is the default - no membership required. Rifle and pistol lanes cost $7–$12/day, with additional user group options for specialty ranges. Full-auto fire is permitted in prone or benched positions. Still, shooters must keep rounds on berms and follow strict RSO supervision.
While introductory firearm classes are offered, no formal sniper or tactical training programs exist. However, monthly matches and national-level events, including the Southwest Nationals, attract skilled shooters nationwide.
Expect desert mirage and heat challenges at longer distances, making early morning the best time to dial in. BASF best suits PRS competitors, distance-focused hobbyists, and anyone seeking affordable, structured long-range practice in a professionally run facility.
