This 2-day training course is designed to immerse students in the exact long-range engagement techniques used by modern law enforcement and special forces. Held at the Sierra 1 Site—a 100-acre SWAT training area near Heber, AZ, this course lays a solid foundation in precision rifle fundamentals while pushing your limits beyond 900 meters.
What you’ll learn:
- You’ll cover a full spectrum of long gun skills, including:
- Rifle and optic setup, scope fundamentals, and combat bore sighting
- Chronograph and Kestrel usage for accurate ballistic data
- Building DOPE for your specific system
- Wind and elevation calls, positional shooting, and shooter-spotter communication
- High-angle and vehicle-based shooting (from military Humvee)
How it’s delivered:
Hands-on field instruction focused on real-world marksmanship. Expect coaching in prone and alternate positions with an emphasis on operational relevance and accuracy under stress.
Where and what you’ll shoot:
Steel targets are positioned from mid-range out to 900+ meters across rugged terrain, with elevation shifts and high-angle setups built into the course of fire.
Gear & prep:
- Bolt-action or semi-auto rifle (.308 or equivalent recommended)
- 300-round count
- Kestrel, chronograph, and related ballistic tools encouraged
- Free onsite camping is available for participants
