This intensive S.W.A.T. Sniper School is designed for law enforcement personnel preparing for designated sniper roles within tactical teams and critical incident response. The curriculum builds a strong operational foundation in police sniper doctrine, combining precision marksmanship, observation, mission planning, and deployment procedures aligned with real-world law enforcement applications.

Training is delivered through hands-on instruction, live-fire range work, and scenario-based exercises at the Sierra 1 Site in Heber. Students develop sniper competencies through structured coaching, practical field problems, and team integration drills that reinforce both individual performance and support within a command structure. Emphasis is placed on accountable shot execution, tactical decision-making, and operating effectively under stress.

Key training areas include:

  • Tactical employment of the law enforcement sniper during SWAT operations and critical incidents
  • Precision rifle setup, zero confirmation, and positional shooting fundamentals
  • Ballistics application, wind reading, and environmental corrections
  • Range estimation and engagements at known and unknown distances
  • Observation, surveillance, and intelligence reporting techniques
  • Shooter and spotter communication with command and team integration
  • Mission planning within incident command and use-of-force considerations
  • Scenario-driven exercises reflecting real-world police sniper deployments
  • Qualification-focused drills supporting agency or state sniper standards

Students can expect live-fire training with engagements under time pressure, practical surveillance exercises, and deployment scenarios designed to test judgment as much as marksmanship. Training reinforces the sniper’s dual role as precision shooter and intelligence asset, with a strong focus on accountability, discipline, and tactical support.

This course is best suited for active law enforcement officers assigned to, or preparing for, a sniper role within a SWAT or tactical unit. A long gun chambered no greater than .308 or 6.5 with 500 rounds is required, and additional equipment guidance is provided upon registration. Free onsite camping is available. Ideal for officers seeking foundational sniper certification or sharpening operational readiness before advanced sniper training.
