The LE Sniper – Basic (LESB) course from HRTC is a comprehensive 4-day law enforcement sniper school designed to set the standard for deployable LE snipers. This is not just a shooting course; it’s a foundational program that prepares officers for real-world operational demands in both rural and urban environments.
Certified for 40 hours of P.O.S.T. credit, this course covers the full spectrum of what a modern law enforcement sniper needs to know.
Students will train in:
- Fundamentals of precision marksmanship
- Internal and external ballistics
- Positional shooting and moving target engagements
- Intermediate barriers and bullet construction
- Sniper/SWAT team integration and communication
- Hide site selection, mission prep, and gear management
- Use of force law, case studies, and sniper medical considerations
- Physical and mental conditioning for sustained operational effectiveness
Unlike courses that ignore the sniper’s human performance factors, HRTC includes modules on sniper well-being, mental focus, and long-term capability. Students are introduced to advanced concepts early, providing them with a roadmap for future progression and reducing the risk of “unconscious incompetence.”
The course concludes with a final rifle qualification, live-fire scenarios, and a written exam.
