Pete Schreier is a Vortex Edge firearms instructor, former Army infantryman, and deputy sheriff who specializes in pistol optics, USPSA Carry Optics, and practical carbine setup for real-world shooting performance.

Pete Schreier is a firearms instructor and range officer at Vortex Edge, bringing a well-rounded background that spans military service, law enforcement, and competitive shooting. He served as an infantryman with the U.S. Army’s 10th Mountain Division, deploying to Kosovo and Iraq, and later worked as a deputy sheriff.
At Vortex Edge, Pete focuses heavily on practical shooting applications, with an emphasis on pistol-mounted optics, AR-15 carbines, and modern optic systems. As an early adopter of red-dot pistols and an active USPSA Carry Optics competitor, he brings real competition-driven insight into his instruction, helping shooters bridge the gap between range fundamentals and performance under pressure.
His teaching covers topics such as transitioning from iron sights to red dots, proper rifle zeroing, optic selection, and efficient shooting mechanics. Pete emphasizes that real progress comes from continued practice beyond the classroom, encouraging students to build consistency through repetition and applied learning.
