This five-day, 50-hour certification course delivers a comprehensive foundation for law enforcement officers assigned to SWAT sniper roles. Designed to train full teams—either within one department or in collaboration with regional agencies—it’s ideal for agencies seeking to build sniper capability from the ground up.
Students will progress through a structured crawl-walk-run approach focused on precision rifle fundamentals, positional shooting, basic tripod techniques, fieldcraft, and sniper deployment procedures. The course begins with individualized rifle fitting and evolves daily with layered learning objectives to promote consistency and real-world application.
Legal and operational topics are integrated throughout, including case studies on deadly force and the American Sniper Association’s Police Sniper Utilization Report. Each graduate receives a 1-year ASA membership and must pass a written test, marksmanship qualification, and fieldcraft assessments.

Required Gear:
- Precision rifle (1 MOA or better, bolt/semi-auto) + variable optic
- 500 rounds of match ammo + 60 rounds of bonded duty ammo
- Tripod, bipod, rear bag, data book, eye/ear pro
- Spotting scope or binos, sniper pack, gas mask, shooting mat
- LBV or plate carrier, at least two magazines, a cleaning kit
- Optional: Kestrel, LRF, rifle tools, field chair, sun protection
