Chris Ray is a retired law enforcement sniper and firearms instructor with over 18 years of service in the Phoenix Police Department. For over eight years, he was a full-time member of the elite Special Assignments Unit (SAU), serving as a sniper, entry team operator, and grenadier. His experience in high-risk operations shaped the foundation for his post-retirement training career, where he continues to deliver advanced sniper instruction in the Phoenix, Arizona, area.
Chris served as the Lead Sniper Instructor for Phoenix PD and holds certifications including NRA Sniper Instructor, Rifle and Submachine Gun Instructor, Less-Lethal Munitions Instructor, and AZPOST-certified Patrol Rifle and Recruit Firearms Instructor. He is also an FBI Sniper/Observer School graduate. He formerly held a secret clearance while serving as an Intelligence Officer with the Arizona Counter Terrorism Information Center (ACTIC).
Beyond the department, Chris has contributed to the broader tactical community as a co-chair of the Sniper SME committee for the Arizona Tactical Officers Association and as an instructor for the annual Sniperfest Training & Competition.
