Founded in 2013 by Tyler Hughes, a U.S. Marine Scout Sniper and Steel Safari champion, Max Ordinate Academy is a veteran-owned training school dedicated to advancing precision rifle performance for civilians, law enforcement, and military snipers.
Operating from a purpose-built facility in Lucerne Valley, CA, the academy features known-distance steel targets out to 1,760 yards, high-angle shooting platforms, and rugged field courses designed to simulate rural and urban engagements.
The academy's progressive curriculum includes:
- Precision Rifle 1–3 (PR1–PR3): From fundamentals and wind calls to high-angle positional shooting
- Urban Scoped Rifle Series: 3-day course focused on precision gas gun deployment in tight, dynamic environments
- Urban Precision & Comp Prep: Geared toward sniper teams and competitive PRS/NRL shooters
- Law Enforcement-Only Courses: Advanced sniper and basic sniper certification programs for agencies across the U.S.
The All Access Pass ($5,000/year) is for shooters seeking total immersion. It includes unlimited civilian course access, private instruction, and gear support. The Max Ordinate Precision Rifle Club also hosts regular matches, fostering growth in a team-oriented setting.
Training blends 60/40 live-fire and classroom instruction, with drills emphasizing alternate positions, decision-making, and real-world engagement scenarios. Hughes and his team also offer downloadable training aids and dry-fire resources to support skill retention beyond the range.
Max Ordinate is not a public range—access is limited to enrolled students and members. Loaner rifles are available.
