Paul Kultala
Kultala is a retired USAF Pararescueman and SWAT sniper who’s been instructing at Gunsite since 1996, specializing in pistol, rifle, carbine, shotgun, and tactical medicine.
ABOUT
Paul Kultala brings over four decades of tactical and operational experience to the range. A longtime adjunct instructor at Gunsite Academy since 1996, Paul teaches across multiple disciplines, including pistol, rifle, carbine, shotgun, and tactical medicine, offering students a well-rounded and deeply informed training experience.
Before joining Gunsite, Paul served 20 years in the U.S. Air Force as a Pararescueman, conducting rescue and special operations in high-risk environments.
Following his military career, Paul transitioned to law enforcement with the Chandler Police Department in Arizona. He also served as a patrol officer, field training officer, school resource officer, and member of the bike team. He was a key part of the firearms training unit. Paul also served on the department’s SWAT team as both a tactical operator and sniper.
Now retired from law enforcement, Paul continues to train civilian, military, and law enforcement students at Gunsite with calm professionalism, real-world insight, and a passion for developing capable and confident shooters.
