370 Advanced General Rifle

The 370 Advanced General Rifle course at Gunsite Academy builds directly on the foundation of the 270 General Rifle program, expanding both distance and complexity. This five-day course takes precision riflecraft into advanced terrain, challenging shooters to apply their knowledge of optics, positional stability, and field decision-making at extended ranges.

Students will engage steel and paper targets out to 500 yards, with a strong emphasis on ethical shot placement and real-world application. Moving targets and enhanced field courses introduce new challenges under time and environmental stress, helping shooters solidify their effective range and positional readiness.

Training includes deep instruction on optic systems, traditional duplex reticles, compensating reticles, and CDS/BDC turrets. Shooters will learn to make accurate adjustments using MOA or Mil, practice dialing or holding based on their equipment, and focus on using slings for support while transitioning between shooting positions.

What you’ll need:

• A proven field rifle in a non-magnum caliber (such as .308 or .30-06)
• Familiarity with the 270 course or equivalent training
• 500+ rounds of ammunition (ammo packs and rentals available)
• Optic capable of supporting your chosen ballistic system (MOA or Mil)
