Gunsite Academy

Gunsite Academy, located near Paulden, Arizona, is one of the most established and expansive private firearms training facilities in the U.S., spanning 3,000 acres with ranges out to 2,000 yards. Founded on the principle that _“Rights demand responsibility,”_ Gunsite trains military, law enforcement, and serious civilian shooters with a heavy emphasis on real-world application, safety, and moral responsibility.

Instruction is led by experts, including former SWAT team leaders, active-duty officers, and top-level competitors. Notable instructors include Tessa Wyrick, a 50BMG long-range match competitor, and John Hall, a retired SWAT commander.

Gunsite’s precision rifle program covers everything from fundamentals to extreme-distance engagements:

• Xtreme Long Range (XLR) Rifle — 1,000–2,000 meters with advanced ballistics and wind-reading

Specialized offerings include alumni-only LRR Range Days for continued skill development and instructor-level certifications for qualified professionals.

With a focus on practical marksmanship, Gunsite’s courses include instruction in prone, kneeling, and seated positions, as well as the integration of ballistic software, equipment optimization, and shooting at unknown distances. Onsite rentals include rifles such as the Desert Tech SRS and AI AXMC, along with suppressors and high-end optics.

No membership required: courses are open to vetted civilians, LEO, and MIL shooters.
